After a year off of his weekly driving duties at Knoxville, in which he was the crew chief for Dustin Selvage, Johnny “Lightning” Anderson returned to competition at Knoxville in 2009 with a new number and a fresh outlook. The result was a seventh place finish in the points, his seventh career Knoxville win, and the honor of 360 "Sportsman of the Year".

Always a fan favorite, Johnny finished in the top four in the final 360 standings from 2005-2007. The Anderson family team will again be a welcome addition to the Saturday night pit area in 2010 as the number moves back to 7a.

Johnny first competed at Knoxville in 2000, following a successful go-kart career, and impressed by qualifying for five features, including a 360 Nationals prelim. The next year, it was eleven features, as his point standing continued to improve. In 2002, he qualified for the 360 Nationals final, placing 12th, and moved into the top ten in points. On May 21, 2005 he won his first of what is six feature events to date at Knoxville.

2006 was a year to remember. Johnny captured the “Young Guns” and “Young Guns vs. Masters” features in one night, and then grabbed a 360 Nationals prelim in August. He was also named the “Junior Fan Club Driver of the Year” that season.
